nocternal is a small set of single-purpose tools that mask the secrets developers' files tend to carry — keys, tokens, passwords, emails, IPs — in logs, configs, and pastes. Everything runs in your browser; there is no account and nothing to upload (more on how that works). Using the tools means you accept the terms below.
Provided as is
The tools are provided as is, without warranty of any kind, express or implied. Detection is pattern-based and incomplete by construction: it catches common secret shapes and flags strings that merely look risky, but no scrubber can find everything. The output is best-effort — there is no guarantee of complete detection, redaction, anonymization, or suitability for any particular purpose.
Your review is the last step
You are responsible for reviewing the output before you share it or rely on it. Every tool shows you what it changed and flags what it was unsure about, precisely so that final check stays yours to make. Do not treat a processed file as safe to share on the strength of the tool alone — read it yourself first.
Not advice
Nothing on this site is legal, compliance, or security advice. Whether a tool's output is suitable for any regulatory or contractual purpose is your own determination to make, not ours. The tools are a convenience for reducing obvious risk, not a substitute for your own judgement about what is safe to share.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, nocternal and its authors are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the tools or their output — including any secret a tool did not detect, or any consequence of sharing a file the tool processed. You use the tools at your own risk.
